It could be New York’s longest schlep: Every Saturday, young rabbis trudge 15 miles from Brooklyn to worship with some of the last Jews left in one Bronx neighborhood.
The ultra-Orthodox rabbis lead a small Parkchester synagogue housed in the same ramshackle building as an Islamic school and a mosque.

Bronx: Parkchester Oval

The Parkchester apartment complex surrounding this park has the same origins as Stuy Town, and their park is called “the Oval,” too. This fountain has a proper name for the sculpture within, though: Fantasia. Raymond Granville Barger cast it to be completed around the time the apartments were, during World War II. It’s a very chill spray-fight, but the guys riding the fishmobile definitely seem to have the advantage.
